This page draws on 12,317 macadamia-tagged meal logs from 2,550 unique Signos members, plus a 1,989-log single-item sub-cohort, collected through the Signos production CGM platform between Mar 2025 and Apr 2026. Data were filtered to postprandial glucose responses (PPGR) between 0 and 100 mg/dL to exclude sensor artifacts and implausible readings. Modifier effects were estimated using Welch's t-test on matched pairs against a defined baseline; reported effects carry p<0.001 unless noted. Because macadamia's published GI and GL are both 0, the form-slot anchors in the recipe builder are overridden to +0 mg/dL — full cohort means (raw/roasted +21.6 mg/dL; salted +20.8 mg/dL) reflect unlogged sides like cookies and chocolate and are preserved in `option_mean_full_cohort` for transparency. Modifier and carb-pair deltas continue to use full cohort statistics. The food was identified using a regex matching "macadamia" as a primary ingredient, excluding macadamia oil, butter, and milk. Carb-pair slots require at least 30 matched meals before they appear in the recipe builder.

Limitations

  • Macadamia's published GI=0/GL=0 means form-slot anchors are zeroed at the page level. The cohort default-form mean of +21.6 mg/dL (n=9,062) is preserved in the underlying JSON but reflects unlogged sides — interpret the visible "alone = 0" anchor as the editorial truth, not a contradiction.
  • Self-reported portion sizes introduce measurement error — a logged "1 oz" of macadamia may vary in actual weight, affecting per-serving estimates.
  • Cohort skews health-motivated; Signos members tracking glucose tend to eat more mindfully than the general population, so real-world pairing distributions may differ.
  • The ice cream / dessert carb-pair sub-cohort is small (n=83) and carries low confidence — its +3 mg/dL delta should be treated as directional only.
  • Chocolate-covered macadamia (n=0) and honey-glazed/candied macadamia (n=22) were suppressed from the recipe builder for low confidence; treat any candied-variant glucose claim with caution.
  • Modifier analyses reflect meal-level correlations, not controlled feeding trials — causality cannot be established from observational CGM data alone.
