In our cohort of 3,687 naan logs across 2,007 unique members, the median peak was +42 mg/dL and the IQR spanned 31 mg/dL (p25: +28, p75: +59). At GL 32, naan carries the highest glycemic load of any bread on the atlas, and three levers move the curve. Total carb load is the biggest (meals with ≥60g spiked 22% higher, CI: [+6.95, +10.13] mg/dL, p<0.001, n=1,736). The pairing is the second — curry pushed peaks +5 mg/dL above plain (n=1,415), dal added +8 mg/dL (n=205). Morning timing is the third lever, with a 13% reduction (CI: [−8.69, −2.93] mg/dL, p<0.001), though only 218 logs landed in that window. These are observational findings, not causal.

Across 3,687 logged naan meals, the average glucose peak was +44.3 mg/dL — the second-highest in the bread family. Three levers explain most of the range. Total meal carb load dominates: meals with ≥60g spiked 22% higher than the low-carb baseline (CI: [+6.95, +10.13] mg/dL, p<0.001, n=1,736). The curry pairing is the second lever — butter chicken or tikka masala added +5 mg/dL above plain naan (n=1,415, high confidence). The single-item sub-cohort (naan logged without other foods) is small (n=132); the headline mean of +44.3 mg/dL reflects the broader 3,687-meal cohort, which is where naan almost always lives in member logs (paired with curry, rice, or dal). Statistical comparisons use Welch's t-test on matched pairs; modifier effects cited carry p<0.001 unless noted. Cohort filtering restricts to meals with a measured glucose rise between 0 and 100 mg/dL (ppgr_case='regular'). Mean peak glucose is right-skewed; the cohort median is +42 mg/dL vs. a mean of +44.3 mg/dL, with an IQR spanning p25: +28 to p75: +59. Naan meals were identified via regex on logged food names (pattern: \bnaan\b). A minimum of 30 matched meals is required for any modifier option to appear in the recipe builder; slots with fewer than 500 logs are marked medium-confidence.
