This page draws on 3,218 soy-sauce-tagged logged meals from 1,672 unique Signos members, collected through the Signos production CGM platform. Data were filtered to postprandial glucose responses (PPGR) between 0 and 100 mg/dL to exclude sensor artifacts and implausible readings. Modifier effects were estimated using Welch's t-test on matched pairs against a defined baseline; all reported effects carry p<0.001 unless noted. Because soy sauce has a published glycemic index of 0 and glycemic load of 0, the recipe-builder form anchors are overridden to 0 mg/dL — the underlying cohort means (preserved in `option_mean_full_cohort`) reflect the dishes members ate alongside each form, not the soy sauce itself. The food was identified in member logs using a regex matching 'soy sauce', 'shoyu', or 'tamari' as a primary ingredient, with 'soy sauce chicken' (a Chinese dish where the chicken drives the curve) explicitly excluded. Any food-pair pairing slot requires at least 30 matched meals before it appears in the recipe builder.

Limitations

  • Self-reported portion sizes introduce measurement error — a logged '1 tbsp' may vary substantially in actual quantity, affecting per-serving estimates.
  • Cohort skews health-motivated; Signos members tend to eat more mindfully than the general population, so real-world average pairings may differ.
  • The sub-cohorts for sushi (n=254), ramen/pho (n=235), and dumpling dip (n=78) carry medium-to-low confidence flags; deltas are directional but should be re-tested as the cohort grows.
  • The single-item summary sample is very small (n=50); page-primary stats use the broader cohort (n=3,218) with explicit framing — much smaller than other condiment pages because members log the dish, not the soy sauce.
  • Sweet soy / kecap manis is composition-different (contains added sugar), and its sub-cohort (n=31) is too small to power a confidence-flagged delta. Treat the +37.6 mg/dL full-cohort mean as directional only.
