Statistical comparisons use Welch's t-test on matched pairs; all modifier effects cited carry p<0.001 unless noted otherwise. Cohort filtering restricts to meals with a measured glucose rise between 0 and 100 mg/dL (ppgr_case='regular'). We report mean peak glucose rise; the distribution is right-skewed and the median is +27 mg/dL vs. a mean of +30.2 mg/dL. Soy milk logs were identified via regex matching on logged food names ("soy milk", "soymilk", "soya milk"), excluding soy protein shakes. A minimum group threshold of 30 matched meals is required for any modifier to appear in the calculator; high-confidence threshold is ≥500 logs.

Limitations

  • The unique-member count is relatively small (n=881) — meaning a smaller number of repeat loggers contribute disproportionately to the 8,123-log cohort. Per-individual averages may carry more weight than they would in a more diverse cohort.
  • Self-reported portion sizes introduce noise — a 'cup' of soy milk in member logs may range from 4 oz to 16 oz, affecting carb load and peak estimates.
  • Cohort skews health-motivated; members using CGMs tend to be more metabolically aware than the general population, so average responses may be lower than a representative sample would show.
