That's higher than Greek yogurt's single-item baseline at the form level, where plain whole-milk Greek pulls a few mg/dL lower thanks to roughly 2× the protein per cup. The dominant lever inside the regular-yogurt cohort is the cup itself: plain anchors at +28 mg/dL while blueberry pushes to +33 mg/dL and low-fat hits +31 mg/dL — added sugar in the flavored variants does most of the work. Whole-milk yogurt was the lowest form at +25.9 mg/dL, and chia or chopped nuts on top trimmed the peak by 2–3 mg/dL.

Regular yogurt is a low-GI dairy food (GI 34, GL 7) — a 3/4-cup serving carries roughly 12–20g of carbs and 6–8g of protein, and across 7,305 single-item logs the average glucose peak was +25.1 mg/dL (median +22). The dominant lever measured in the full cohort is meal-level carb load: meals with ≥60g of carbs ran 54% higher than the low-carb baseline (CI: +12.72 to +13.68 mg/dL, n=7,922, p<0.001), and the carb-bucket analysis shows escalation from +24.5 mg/dL in light meals to +42.5 mg/dL in very-heavy (110g+) builds — a 73% jump. Two secondary levers pull in the opposite direction: high-fat pairings (≥15g) trimmed the response by 5.9% (n=29,918, p<0.001) and ≥15g of protein cut it by 11.1% (n=41,573, p<0.001) — both consistent with fat and protein slowing gastric emptying. Compared to Greek yogurt, regular yogurt's lower protein density and frequent added sugar push the form-level baseline a few mg/dL higher.
This page draws on 57,892 logged regular-yogurt meals from 10,061 unique Signos members, with 7,305 of those logs flagged as single-item (yogurt eaten without other tracked items), collected through the Signos production CGM platform between March 2025 and April 2026. Greek yogurt, frozen yogurt, yogurt drinks, and yogurt-covered snacks are excluded from this cohort and covered on separate pages. Data were filtered to postprandial glucose responses (PPGR) between 0 and 100 mg/dL to exclude sensor artifacts. Modifier effects were estimated using Welch's t-test on matched pairs against a defined baseline; all reported effects carry p<0.001 unless noted (the morning-timing modifier fell below significance at p=0.13). We report mean glucose peak across a right-skewed distribution — the median peak of +22 mg/dL is a few mg/dL lower than the single-item mean of +25.1 mg/dL, which is typical for this type of data. Any form or topping option requires at least 30 matched meals before it appears in the recipe builder; high-confidence options require 500+.
