Yes — across 462 logged meals where members ate an English muffin alone, the average glucose peak was +39.4 mg/dL, with 66.0% of responses exceeding the +30 mg/dL threshold. In our single-item cohort of 462 English muffin logs (275 unique members), the median peak was +38.5 mg/dL and the IQR spanned 29 mg/dL (p25: +24, p75: +53). At GI 45, the muffin itself is one of the more moderate breakfast carriers — meaningfully below bagels (GI 72) or white bread (GI 71). But the carrier is the carrier. Three levers move the curve: total carb load (meals with ≥60g carbs spiked 27% higher, p<0.001, n=1,620), high sugar content (≥20g added a 25% bump, n=1,292), and what rides on top — jam adds +4 mg/dL, while peanut butter trims −2 mg/dL. Three levers explain most of the cohort range: total meal carb load (≥60g pushed peaks 27% higher, CI: [+8.03, +10.17] mg/dL, p<0.001, n=1,620), high sugar content (≥20g added 25%, n=1,292), and morning timing (a 9% reduction before 10am, p<0.001, n=8,338). Fat and protein pairings provide a smaller secondary brake — peanut butter trims −2 mg/dL across 1,720 matched logs. These effects are observational, not yet established as causal.
This page draws on Signos production CGM data logged between March 2025 and April 2026, covering 14,364 meals containing English muffins across 4,160 unique members (broader cohort), with a single-item sub-cohort of 462 meals (275 unique members) where an English muffin was logged without other foods. Statistical comparisons use Welch's t-test on matched pairs; all modifier effects cited carry p<0.001 unless noted. Cohort filtering restricts to meals with a measured glucose rise between 0 and 100 mg/dL (ppgr_case='regular'). We report mean peak glucose rise across this right-skewed distribution — the single-item median is +38.5 mg/dL vs. a mean of +39.4 mg/dL, with an IQR spanning p25: +24.2 to p75: +53.0. English muffin meals were identified via regex on logged food names (pattern: \benglish\s+muffin[s]?\b). A minimum of 30 matched meals is required for any modifier option to appear in the recipe builder; slots with fewer than 500 logs are marked medium-confidence.
