How it works

How continuous glucose monitoring works

A CGM measures your glucose around the clock and sends it to your phone. Signos turns that stream of data into guidance you can act on.

  1. Step 01
Stelo by Dexcom glucose sensor and applicator

    Apply your sensor

Press the applicator to the back of your upper arm and the sensor is on in seconds. No finger pricks. Each sensor lasts 15 days.

  2. Step 02
Signos app showing a continuous glucose monitoring graph

    Wear it and sync

Your CGM takes a glucose reading every five minutes and sends the data to the Signos app on your phone every 15 minutes via Bluetooth, day and night.

  3. Step 03
Signos app with personalized glucose insights

    Act on your data

Signos scores your meals, predicts glucose spikes before they happen, and suggests the movement that brings glucose back down.

A wearable glucose sensor, not a finger prick

A continuous glucose monitor is a small sensor that sits on the back of your upper arm. It replaces finger pricks with a steady stream of glucose data, so you can see what happens after every meal, workout, and night of sleep.

Every Signos plan uses the Stelo glucose biosensor by Dexcom. You apply it yourself at home, wear it for 15 days, then switch to the next one. Plans include two sensors a month.

Frequently asked questions

CGM questions, answered

What is a continuous glucose monitor (CGM)?

A continuous glucose monitor (CGM) is a small wearable sensor that tracks your glucose 24/7, with no finger pricks. Instead of a single reading, you see how your glucose rises and falls throughout the day and night.

Signos pairs a CGM, the Stelo glucose biosensor by Dexcom, with an AI app that turns your readings into personalized guidance for weight and metabolic health.

How does continuous glucose monitoring work?

A thin, flexible filament just under the skin measures glucose in the fluid between your cells. The sensor takes a reading every five minutes and sends the data to your phone every 15 minutes via Bluetooth.

The Signos app combines those readings with your meals, workouts, sleep, and weight to predict spikes, score meals, and suggest what to eat or how to move next.

Can a CGM help you lose weight?

Yes, when used consistently, CGMs can support healthy, sustainable weight management by helping you understand how your body responds to food, exercise, and daily habits in real time. Research shows that 87% of CGM users change their food choices based on glucose feedback, and nearly half are more likely to move their bodies when they see a spike.

Signos takes that a step further by using your personal glucose data, meal logs, and workout history to suggest what to eat next or how to move, so you're not guessing. With consistent use, CGMs paired with in-the-moment guidance can help retrain your appetite, reduce overeating, and build habits that support long-term weight and fat loss.

In a peer-reviewed 2026 study in Diabetes Technology & Therapeutics, 3,007 Signos members with obesity, none of them diabetic and none taking GLP-1 medications, lost an average of more than 5% of their body weight in six months.

Is a CGM painful?

Most people feel little to nothing. You apply the sensor to the back of your upper arm with an applicator in a few seconds, and there are no finger pricks after that.

How long does a CGM sensor last?

Each sensor lasts 15 days. Every Signos plan includes two sensors per month, so you have continuous coverage. Six-month plans ship in three-month bundles.

Do I need a prescription for a CGM?

No. Signos is the first and only FDA-cleared over-the-counter continuous glucose monitoring system for weight management, so you can order online without a prescription or a doctor's visit.

It's intended for adults 18 and older who are not on insulin.

How much does a CGM cost without insurance?

Signos plans start at $127/month and include two CGM sensors per month, the AI app, unlimited tracking, and in-app dietitian chat. Longer plans cost less per month.

You don't need insurance to buy Signos, and you may be able to pay with your HSA or FSA. Coverage varies, so check with your provider.

Can I use a CGM if I don't have diabetes?

Yes. Signos is built for people focused on weight and metabolic health, including people without diabetes. Seeing how your glucose responds to food, sleep, stress, and exercise helps you build habits that support weight management.

What's the difference between a CGM and a glucose meter?

A glucose meter (glucometer) needs a finger prick and gives you one reading at one moment. A CGM reads your glucose automatically every five minutes, so you see trends, spikes, and dips across the whole day, including overnight.

Can I use a CGM while taking a GLP-1?

Yes. If you're already on a GLP-1, GLP-1 Essentials is a part-time program built around your medication: six 15-day sensors over six months, worn when they count. Medication not included.
